I am trying to downgrade my rdp on our thing clients that run xp embedded with sp3. I tried to install rdp 6.0 (because of remote apps) and it says the version I have is newer than the one I am trying to install and it wont install. - Microsoft has released an updated version 6.0 of Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services Client) for Windows XP and Windows 2003. Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 client update will allow RDP users to use the new Terminal Services features.

Thanks Vijay,
I do not think the points on the link are relevant to my particular error message.
I first need to clarify why I am getting the error message I need RDP 6.0 or later. Did installing windows 10 uninstall this file? Is there some other work around? I do get online to the screen that I can choose to access my office computer but get the 6.0 message when I hit the icon to access.

I am having the same problem...I don't think RDP 6 is compatible with Windows 10 and there is no way round it.

I have installed Windows server 2012 RDS license on a new Windows server 2012 R2 machine. We need the ability to RDP in from mobile handhelds (Motorola mc 9090 and mc 9100) running CE 5.0 and 6.0. When I try and RDP in I get an error message 'Internal error has occurred' on the handhelds.
After some research I found that it's due the the server using a SHA2 or 2048-bit certificate. Does anyone know of any workarounds for this?

If Windows CE 5.0 doesn't support modern certificate standards, I highly doubt you're going to get an update from Microsoft to change that. Your only choice if you need those clients to work is to reduce the security on your 2012 R2 machine by giving it a cert that your clients are compatible with.
Ryan BolgerRyan BolgerI found this article here http://www.hjgode.de/wp/2014/03/12/windows-server-2012-rds-and-windows-mobile-connection-error/ followed the instuctions and it worked.
